Capturing Learning through Digital Portfolios

On an ongoing basis, teachers assist students to choose samples of work that demonstrate student learning within the curricular competencies, content and the core competencies. Meaningful samples of student progress encourage learning as a personalized process. Examples provide ongoing, authentic, specific, and descriptive evidence of the learning journey aligned with clear learning standards. Learning evidence reflects quality assessment practices and activates student, parent, and teacher voice.

This resource is in constant development and is the collective effort of Surrey educators. It aims to demonstrate the many forms digital documentation takes in primary, intermediate, and secondary and where possible, seeks to uncover the educator’s “Behind the Scenes Thinking” when it comes to curriculum design, instructional strategies, and communicating student learning.
